Project Title: It’s No Joke! We’re Serious about Energy!
Adviser: Erin Gockel
Mrs. Gockel’s Current Events class has been working hard to learn as much as they can about world events important to them. One of the most important jobs out there is energy. We rely so much on oil and gas in our everyday lives and decided to get serious about studying this topic. We started the year out exploring Black Gold and this included a presentation of jobs and careers in the oil field and a game of buying and selling oil. We learned how fossil fuels become the products we use daily and shared this knowledge at the Oil and Gas Day at the Capitol, in Santa Fe. We have taught anyone who would listen; we created energy posters for the school, made our PE teacher’s home more energy efficient, put place mats for advertising in Andrea Kristina’s restaurant, held a No- Waste Lunch Competition in the school, and made project booths for the Energy Expo where over 225 people came! We are serious about energy!
