For Students

ImageNEED focuses on a Kids Teaching Kids approach to energy education.  NEED teachers empower students of all ages to lead energy education activities in their classrooms for their peers.  NEED students also reach their communities with energy knowledge and teach their families about energy resources and conservation.

NEED's curriculum includes the NEED Energy Infobooks and the Energy Infobook Activities for students to learn more about the sources of energy, electricity, transportation and energy efficiency.

NEED works with the U.S. Energy Information Administration on its Energy Kids website - a site dedicated to teaching students about energy.

The NEED Youth Awards Program for Energy Achievement recognizes outstanding energy education efforts from students and school groups.

The NEED Youth Leadership Award is a $1,500 scholarship given annually to an outstanding NEED student.  Students must be graduating seniors, first or second year college, community college, or university students.

NEED Student of the Year awards have been given for over 10 years.  Recipients are selected by the NEED Board of Directors and Staff .
