Mrs. Trombley’s current first period technology engineering class had the amazing opportunity to participate in an Energy Audit of the Fugett building. Mr. Todd Rogers, from NEED (National Energy Education Development Project), conducted the audit. Students toured the Fugett/East Boiler room, learning how the building is heated and air conditioned. They used assorted measuring instruments to check many energy related items in multiple areas throughout the school, including temperature (air and water), humidity, and lighting. They learned about “vampire loads” on electrical devices, using a “Kill A Watt” monitor. There was much surprise at how much energy it takes to run a microwave oven and other items!

This opportunity was available to us thanks to a grant from PECO (Philadelphia Electric Company).
